After Batman, Christopher Nolan dreams of conquering space boundaries. He directed some of the most popular movies of all time and his last three movies managed to bring three billion dollars revenue, so of course we're curious about Interstellar, Nolan's new SF project expected to be in theaters by the end of next year. Interesting thing that in a world where actors and directors sign exclusive contracts with major studios, Nolan's new project will be co-produced by Warner and Paramount, two rival entities in Hollywood. The third producer, Legendary Pictures, is also involved in Interstellar, the project that could change the way American film industry works. What matters is that Nolan has virtually no limit to the production of the film. We're talking about financial limit, but also the imagination limit, because the plot of the movie is to dazzle audiences around the world. In short, the plot revolves around a team of explorers and scientists who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage. An article published by Hollywood Reporter suggests that this scientific breakthrough allows explorers to reach into other dimensions, so the story will explore unfamiliar places for the human race.
As usual, Nolan animates his adventures with some of the most popular names in Hollywood. After confirming in the role of Catwoman from The Dark Knight Rises, Nolan picks again Anne Hathaway and puts her alongside Matthew McConaughey and Matt Damon. The cast continues with yet another known associate of the director, Michael Caine, and also Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck, Topher Grace, John Lithgow, Wes Bentley and Ellen Burstyn.
Naturaly, a great mystery surrounds the production, but rumors suggest that the reason for explorers initiative is an environmental disaster that forces the human race to overcome the boundaries of the known universe to survive. The filming in Canada, which depicts a city ravaged by the destructive rays of the sun, suggests that climate change could be the reason behind the heroes need to find a new shelter for mankind. The production later moved to Iceland, a country with atypical relief often used for science fiction movies(a recent example would be Prometheus). A gigantic and seemingly destroyed ship was built there, which suggests that the heroes reach their destination, but they cannot return.
A project based on inter-dimensional travel was a long time wish in Hollywood and after years of changes, in March 2013, Nolan takes over the project and brings his own ideas to the scenario. As done before, Nolan uses the traditional filmig cameras, but also IMAX cameras. We'll see the result of Nolan's efforts on November 7, 2014. However there are few projects next year to arouse more curiosity than Interstellar.
