Gerard Butler already started negotiations for the lead role in the remake of the 1991 classic Point Break movie, which would be directed by Ericson Core. According to hollywoodreporter.com, filming should begin in the summer of 2014, and Ericson Core, known for The Fast and The Furious and Daredevil, will be director of this production. The scenario belongs to Kurt Wimmer, as the story of international extreme sports, unlike the original which was set in Southern California. The idea of an FBI agent infiltrating a murder case and main character names remain the same. Gerard Butler is expected to play the role of Bodhi, an expert in extreme sports who wants to break a series of records. He rescues Johnny Utah, the undercover FBI agent, and brings him in the middle of international criminal group. The original film, directed by Kathryn Bigelow, starred Patrick Swayze as Bodhi, while Keanu Reeves was Johnny Utah.
For Gerard Butler this would be the third major project of the year, as he will begin filming Gods of Egypt, and the end of 2014 will find him performing in London Is Falling, the surprisingly sequel to Olympus Has Fallen.
